Using Remote Event Receivers instead of full-trusted Event Receivers in SharePoint Online

Hi!

I am new to SharePoint Apps and Remote Event Receivers for them. So I just want to know, is it possible to create and use Remote Event Receivers for early-created (pre-defined) SharePoint lists and libraries the same way as the native Event Receivers, or I can use them only for lists within the SharePoint Apps?
