Is it possible to pass parameters to EditForm.aspx to prepopulate a document metadata when uploading a document using upload.aspx page

I have a requirement that when a user is on a given page they can click a button and open up upload.aspx in modal dialog to upload a document. after uploading the Editform opens and I would like to pass parameters via modal dialog for upload.aspx to EditForm.aspx so that some metadata are filled up automatically.

Is it possible for SharePoint 2013?
