I have created a copy of alerttemplate.xml as alerttemplate-CUSTOM.xml and included the following IMG tag in a TD.

I used stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url https://webapp1 -filename "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\XML\alerttemplates-CUSTOM.xml" to use the custom template.
Outlook does not trust this image and it does not appear unless I trust/download in outlook. I want to be able to embed Image.png within the outgoing alert email under the assumption that it will display. Please advise if I am right? If right - how could I embed an image with the outgoing email.
If I am not right, please advise for a mechanism to display an image in the alert email body.
