Redirecting from root site to a sub-site

Dears,

I do have a SharePoint root site with the url http://spdev01

As well as i have two more variations site for English with the url of http://spdev01/en and for French with the URL of :

http://spdev01/fr

when someone hits the root site url http://spdev01, user should be redirected to the English(http://spdev01/en) site automatically.

i tried the redirect page option by changing the "SecondsBeforeRedirect" attribute from 5 to 0, issue is i can be able to see the root sites default.aspx till the redirection happens after 0 seconds. i don't want user to notice that there is a redirection.

how can i achieve this?
