Using SharePoint for docx/pptx/xlsx -> pdf

Hi all;

As I understand it, there's a call in SharePoint to convert docx & pptx to PDF. If so:

1. What is this called?
2. Is it available in all versions (hosted as well as locally installed)?
3. Is there a REST API to this so we can call remotely to convert a file, passing up a docx or pptx and getting back a pdf?

And to confirm - this is using the code from Word and PowerPoint so we should get the exact same PDF we would get if we saved the file to PDF from the desktop apps - correct?

Also, any plans for Excel on this?

BTW - our need is strictly DOCX/PPTX -> PDF where we pass a file in and get a file back. Not as part of SharePoint workflow or anything else in the system. Just the SaveAs functionality.
