If have got an issue with my SharePoint provider hosted addin (implemented as an MVC site). In esscence everything works as expected, there is just one minor issue, if:
- The user hasn't logged on to SharePoint recently (as far as I can tell, recently is a few days).
- The user starts the addin directly (e.g. from a bookmark)
In this case an authentication error occurs (http 401) from the MVC site to SharePoint. (although the user was asked for his credentials).
The workaround is easy, logon to SharePoint, from any machine, any browser, doesn't have to be the machine where you are trying to launch the addin. After that the app will work with those credentials for some time.
Its like there is a trust issue between, the addin and SharePoint for users that haven't logged on to SharePoint recently.
Any suggestions on this? (googling didn't help me much).
In my case it is SP2013 on prem.
