Task Lists

Is it possible to link task list items? I have a protected task list that is reviewed in an executive management meeting and would like to perhaps add a field that when flipped would share that particular item on the middle managers task list. A reciprocal function would be nice to have the middle management be able to automatically escalate an item onto the executive management task list.
