Handling Recurring Events using SharePoint 2013 REST API

Hi,

I want to retrieve the SharePoint Calendar events in an application outside SharePoint environment. I am using REST API to do the same. However while reading recurring events retrieved by REST service, I observed that the recurrence patterns of the recurring events are missing.

Is there a way to retrieve and save the recurring events to the SharePoint 2013 Calendar programmatically?

The reason, I want to REST API because I heard that .asmx webservice are going to be deprecated by microsoft in the near future. The closest solution I came across was SPServices, however that also uses .asmx services in the background and also it doesn't work in the batch job outside the SharePoint Environment.

Any help will be highly appreciated.
