SP 2013 Development - How Can I Programmatically Start a Declarative Workflow

Hello Community,

I am working in SharePoint 2013 and I have created a SharePoint Designer workflow based on the WWF 3.5 model (old way not the new way).  I want to be able to start this workflow programmatically from an event receiver.  Has anyone else done this and if so can you please provide sample code and guidance?
