SharePoint designer - setting up a database connection to remote mySQL database

Hello Folks:

I am trying to set up a Database Connection in SharePoint Designer 2013. Specifically, I want to set up a connection to a mySQL database. Following are the details:

• I "Use Custom Connection String"
• Provider: Microsoft .NET Framework Data Provider for ODBC
• Connection String: Server=#####;Uid=####;Pwd=####;Database=####;

Am I setting up my connection string properly? Again - I'm trying to connect to a remote mySQL database

When I try to connect, I get the following message:

Server Error: An error occurred while retrieving the list of databases from: the server for the data source returned a non-specific error when trying to execute your query. Check the format and content of your query and try again. If the problem persists, contact the server Administrator.

Any ideas on how to connect SharePoint Designer 2013 to a mySQL database are appreciated.
