Bit of a noob question I know, however is there any recommendation on the version of Visual Studio to use to develop Event Receivers in SharePoint 2013 (online and on-prem)?
Does VS need to be run on a SharePoint server or can it be run on a remote host (laptop), I'm guessing it can in order to develop for SharePoint Online?
