Set value on RelatedItems field in new item using client side

Hello there

I need to set a value in the RelatedItems field on a new item. I looked into JSLink but RelatedItems cannot be used for that. The RelatedItems field isn't available on the NewForm either.

Is it possible to do something in the PreSaveAction() event?

Any suggestions are welcome!
