Is there way to allow a user to update a single column on a list item that is read-only?<o:p></o:p>
Here is the requirement:<o:p></o:p>
I have a document library with 5 folders. Each folder has custom permissions. User has Contribute access on some folders and Read-Only on others. I need a way of letting the user update the status field on items in all folders (irrespective of the permissions on the folder). The user should be able to update status column but should not be able to update other site columns. Is there a way to do it? One approach I can think of is displaying a button next to each item but I don’t know if this can be done.
