To fetch sharepoint list items in custom app(Sharepoint hosted) in visual studio 2012

HI,

I am very new to sharepoint 2013 environment. I have one requirement to develop a custom app taht will fetch data from sharepoint list and display thsoe items within teh app.

Please help me to write custom client side code for my app.
