User control in list form

I have a lookup column, where source list have more than 20k items. Because of that i create user control to picking items from source list (instead of dropdown). How can i add my user control to new and edit form of my list. I can create my own form pages, but i'm using default contact list, and it will be very time-consuming to replace standart new and edit form.
