Equivalent PowerShell scripts for Visual Studio SharePoint project Deployment/Retraction steps?

Is there any PowerShell script that is equivalent to Visual Studio SharePoint project Deployment/Retraction steps?

I understand the visual studio do not provide such capability. I am looking for an add-n or tool to generate required powershell scripts.
